Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bobby Jones, parents Claude and Oma Brown, sisters Sarah Stadium, and Margret Richardson.
Betty is survived by her sister; Barbara Ferdinand, brother; Bobby Brown, four daughters; Angela (Bruce) Bennett, Martha (Tad) Jenkins, Mary (Eric) George, Melissa (Bedford Combs) Jones; three grandchildren, Austin (Hanna) Bennett, Zach (Elise) Jenkins, Madison Johns; five great grandchildren, Ella Rae Jenkins, Liam Bennett, Beckham Bennett, Everett Jenkins, Isabella Bennett; several nieces and nephews.
Betty was born March 8, 1932 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She attended high school in Shelbyville, Tennessee, where she cheered and played basketball. Betty married her beloved Bobby in 1953 and they raised their family in Goodlettsville, Tennessee where she was a homemaker. After her girls attended college, she attended MTSU where she received her Bachelor Degree. She worked at Store Front Ministries as a counselor to the homeless and needy.
Betty touched many lives with her kind heart and wisdom. She volunteered in schools to help young children with math and reading; led Junior Church at Goodlettsville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, taught adult Sunday School at Downtown Presbyterian Church, and supported her husband in his community work serving as Mayor of Goodletsville for 22 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed, and we are thankful for the life she lived before us.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon, Wednesday, July 24; family and friends will gather for visitation Tuesday, July 23 from 4:00-6:00 PM, and Wednesday 10:00-11:45 AM. The service and visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church on Franklin Road in Nashville,
