Abbie Gail Duncan Baggett, 76, of Goodlettsville, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2019. She was born April 12, 1943, in Ripley, MS, to Paul Carlyle and Edith Lucille Duncan, and spent much of her childhood growing up in Memphis, TN.
In 1961, Abbie married the love of her life, Paul Baggett. Even as a young woman, Abbie‘s ability to encourage others and share God‘s word was evident, through the daily letters filled with scriptures that she and Paul exchanged while he was away from home, serving in the U. S. Armed Forces. Shortly after his discharge, Paul and Abbie entered into full-time ministry and spent the next 50 years building churches and pastoring in Ripley, MS, and across the Tennessee cities of Memphis, Kingsport, Millersville, Goodlettsville, and Hendersonville.
Abbie is survived by her four children, Alan (Teresa) Baggett of Goodlettsville, TN, Alisa (Paul) Connell of Temple, TX, Clay (Tawana) Baggett of Gallatin, TN, and Matthew (Rachel) Baggett of Twin Falls, ID; 10 grandchildren, DeNae (Jason) Hill, Alaina Baggett, Chaston (JoAnna) Baggett, Austin Connell, Brooklyn Connell, Melia (Thomas) Gentry, Megan (Andy) Corley, Mikala Baggett, Pemberlee Baggett, and Kollin Baggett; 2 great-grandchildren, McKenzie Gentry and Aiden Gentry; and 3 siblings, Paul (Debbie) Duncan, Jr., Caroleen Rogers, and Clydie Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul “The Happy Pastor” Baggett; her brother, Mancel Duncan; and her parents, Carlyle and Lucille Duncan.
A Life Celebration and Memorial Service will be held in Abbie’s honor on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Three Oaks Church, 502 Douglas Bend Road., Gallatin, TN 37066. Visitation will be held from 10:00am - 2:00pm, with the service beginning at 2:00pm. Flowers, food, and gifts to the family may be sent to the church. Interment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Goodlettsville, TN.
A remarkable woman of great faith, humility, and honor - who taught, led, and mentored countless people through the years - Abbie will be greatly missed by her family and friends, and all who had the opportunity to know her. She had a life well lived, and is now walking with her Savior and having a reunion with her beloved husband and other loved ones in Heaven.
