A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he passed away at home on Monday, October 07, 2013 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. He was 82 years old, an avid LSU fan, resident of Gonzales, and a retiree of Dow Chemical Engineering Dept.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Nell Mire; five daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Elton Lebeau, Nancy and Sam Lanoux, Becky and Ralph Daigle, Sue and John Oschwald, and Jennifer and Tony Rome; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Linda Mire and Todd and Jeanne Mire; sister, Lela Mae Guitreau; brother, Donell Mire; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Paul A. and Eunice Berteau Mire; brother, A. P. Mire; sisters, Addis Mire and Gladys Lee; son-in-law, Frank Santone; and a grandson, Dustin Santone.
A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Deacon James Morrissey. Entombment will follow in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Mausoleum in Prairieville.
