February 14, 1938 – October 5, 2022
Stanley J. ”Dut” Richardson of St. Amant, Louisiana, passed away on October 5, 2022, surrounded by friends and family throughout his last days.
Dut is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judy Berthelot Richardson of Maurepas; daughters and sons-in-law Shelia and Neal Savoy, Leslie and Mike Guedry, and Crystal and Leaf Ballast; son and daughter-in-law Kirk and Cookie Richardson; grandchildren and spouses Lauren and Kirby Keller, Whitney and Daniel Foulds, Alycia and Brandon Patty, Emily and Micah Ingrassia, Shelley and Tim Roth, Amelia Ballast, Leaf “LJ” Ballast Jr., Stanley J. Richardson II, and Blanchard Richardson; and 11 great grandchildren. Dut was predeceased by his sisters Edna Mae Guedry and Ruby LeBlanc; his brothers J.C. Richardson and Clyde Richardson; and his parents, Clifton and Constantine Richardson.
Dut was born in Sorrento, Louisiana, on February 14, 1938. He spent his early years working with his father and brothers in construction, where he developed a skill and passion for working with his hands. For the rest of his life, he could be found looking for something to build or fix for friends and family.
He graduated from St. Amant High School in 1957 and married Judy, his high school sweetheart, on June 13, 1959. He enjoyed a well-lived life devoted to his family. He was a musician as a young newlywed but only long enough to decide a night at home with his new bride was preferable to a night in a bar with a rowdy crowd.
He went on to work at Cosmar as an Analyzer Specialist until accepting a position with Saudi Petrochemical for most of his latter career.
Dut loved to learn and was always the first person to accept training on anything new and was a great fan of historical documentaries. Throughout his retirement, he focused on taking care of his family and was in the never-ending pursuit of a well-maintained yard.
The family would like to express our deep gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Pinnacle Hospice as well as Charlotte Groins and Megann Perkins who looked after him with loving care.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant on Saturday, October 8 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral mass at 12:00.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oursofh.com for the Richardson family.
