Stanley G. Brown, Sr. passed away at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge at the age of 88. He was born in New Orleans on November 29, 1928 and was a resident of Prairieville. He received his Masters of Education degree from Loyola University, New Orleans. Stanley was retired from the State of Louisiana as Registrar for the Office of Vital Statistics and Records. He was a US Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict as Sargent and Squad Leader and earned Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars and Combat Infantryman Badge. Stanley is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Shirley A. Brown; sons and daughters-in law Stanley G. Brown, Jr. and Jo Ann R. Brown, Geoffrey A. Brown and Chandrea L. Brown; sister Jewel Johnson; brother Harold Brown; grandchildren Christina M. Brown, Alexandra E. Brown, David J. Brown and Stanley G. Brown, III and host of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Moses William Brown and mother Orelia Jollio Brown; grandparents Moses W. Brown, Sr. and Elizabeth Stanton Brown; sisters Rosanna Williams, Elizabeth Terry and Gwendolyn Young; and brother Alfred Dorsey. Religious services are scheduled for Monday January 23, 2017 at 11AM at First Baptist Church, 1217 S. Burnside Ave., Gonzales, LA conducted by Pastor James B. Law.
