Richard Francis Smith

Richard F. Smith passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 at the age of 77. He was a native of Mt. Airy, LA and a resident of Gonzales, LA. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends, sitting on the porch watching TV or listening to music, and fishing with the guys. He is survived by his children, Troy Smith (Michelle) and Angie Smith Holden; grandchildren, Ty Smith and Connor Holden; brother, Harry Smith, sister in law, Theresa Smith, & brother in law Calvin Arceneaux. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gwen A. Smith; parents, Ida Ory Smith and Doler Smith Sr.; siblings, Alice M. Smith Trosclair, Louise Smith Arceneaux, and Doler Smith Jr.; and son in law, Jack Holden. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m., with mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Connor Holden, Ty Smith, Clinton Broussard, Ryan Broussard, Jerry Arceneaux, and Darrell Rouyea. Honorary pallbearers include: Harry Smith, Alton Rouyea, and Keith Marchand. Thank you to the clinical staff at Our Lady of the Lake Ascension and The Crossing at Clarity Hospice for their care and support over. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in his honor.
