Richard began a life filled with humor, family and fun on October 15, 1946. From a childhood that took him from Texas to Indiana to Louisiana, Richard was loved by everyone who knew him. Richard was married to his college sweetheart Sharon Dykes Compton for 41 amazing years and together raised their three sons. Richard passed away at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge on Sunday, November 24, 2013. He was 67 and the owner of Compton's Steam Cleaning and a member of the Diversion Canal Boat Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Roekle Maxwell Compton and mother Ollie Dell Compton. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Nicole; son and daughter-in-law Ricky and Janet; son and daughter-in-law to be Nick and Ashley; grandchildren Brittney, Dean, Zeph, Daniel and Khloe. Richard graduated from Lafayette High School in 1965 and he proudly and honorably served in the Air Force from 1968-1969 during the Vietnam War. Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy., Gonzales, La. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm and will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 beginning at 9am until service at 10am. Burial at Hope Haven Garden of Memories at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA immediately following the service.
