Philip E. Bowman passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the age of 74. He was a resident of St. Amant, LA for 37 years. He was a biologist with the Louisiana Department of wildlife and Fisheries for 40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gonzales and the Ascension Master Gardeners Association. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dale Corkern Bowman; son, Jonathan Bowman and wife Katie; grandson, Miles Bowman; brothers: Robert and Jimmy Bowman and sisters: Susan Magee, Nancy Kearns, and Alice Wagner (Bill); brother-in-law, Mark Corkern (Nancy); sisters-in-law, Karen Hobgood (Johnny), Susan O’Bryant (Walter), and Ginger Corkern. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Ella Dee Bowman; father and mother-in-law, Daniel and Masel Corkern; brother-in-law, Sandy Corkern. Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Ourso Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. To be followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Smith Cemetery in Franklinton, LA. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Scott Hobgood, Paul Hobgood, Timothy Corkern, Josh Strahan, Kevin Jones, and Bobby Miller.
