Mona Lewis Hughes

Mona Lewis Hughes passed away on January 1, 2023 at the age of 81. She is survived by her loving husband Bennie Hughes; her children, Cheri Mullenix, Wayne Mullenix, Jason Hughes and Katie Bowman (Jonathan), her sister Joyce Goodman (Bill) and numerous grandchildren, family members and friends.

Mona had a very long, successful and distinguished career as a real estate agent. Mona always had a way of lighting up any room she entered. She had a zest for life and if you knew her you couldn’t help but love her. Mona loved to spend time outdoors. She and Bennie took many trips from going to Africa, to spear fishing in the Gulf. Her larger than life personality will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Mona’s Life as we gather at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. Gonzales, LA 70737, on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 4:00pm till 8:00pm. We ask that as a reflection of Mona’s personality please wear bright colors to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Humane Society in memory of Mona.
