Mathew "Mat" Charles Roberts

Mathew Charles Roberts, fondly known as “Mat”, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the age of 46. He was a loving father, son, brother and friend to many. He is survived by his daughter Renee “Charlie” Roberts; son Jax Mathew Roberts; father Russell Roberts (Myrna); mother Sharon Reed (John); brother Christopher Roberts (Summer); stepbrothers, Stephen Reed (Carolyn) and Johnny Reed and fiancé Mitzi Byrd. He is also survived by his loyal dog Josie, numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Mat proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1998-2006. During this time he valiantly fought in the Iraq War. He was an operator by trade. Mat was a hard worker, always reliable and did more than he was asked of on a regular basis. He also loved to be outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing or just exploring nature. Mat also enjoyed woodworking and playing his guitar in his spare time. He was a large part of the Mission 6 organization and was proud to see all the good this organization brought to others. Mat always loved hanging out with family and friends and having a good time. His big laugh and warm smile will be missed by many.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Mat’s Life on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy Gonzales, LA 70737, the visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, the service will start at 11:00 AM. Mat will be laid to rest at the Louisiana National Cemetery at 2PM in Zachary, LA with a military burial.
