Mary Ann Haydel was born July 13, 1939 in Baton Rouge, La and passed away peacefully on March 22, 2021 in Gonzales, LA, at the age of 81. Mary was a native of Baton Rouge and resided in Saint Amant, Louisiana. Visitation will be Friday, March 26, 2021 at Ourso Funeral Home-Gonzales from 8:30am-10:30am with a Funeral Mass immediately following at OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH at 11am.
She enjoyed working for Pookie’s, Reno’s, and St. Amant Pharmacy and later enjoyed her retirement. She was a strong and independent woman. She has battled vascular dementia for the last 4 ½ years and enjoyed the moments with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children and their spouses, Kriste and Greg Haydel, Ronnie and Susan Haydel, Darryl and Dana Haydel, and Linnie and James Savoy; six grandchildren, Nathan Haydel, Sarah and her husband Garrett Strickland, Jenny and her husband Derek Vidrine, Michele and her husband Cory Trabeau, Daniel and his wife Caroline Haydel, and Brennan Haydel; five great grandchildren, Alyssa and Hunter Strickland, Cohen and Abigail Haydel, and Jolie Vidrine. Also survived by a host of extended family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Sarah Accardo Scimeca, her husband Russell “R.J.” Haydel and her Grandchildren Amanda Haydel Sinanan and Theresa Haydel.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Haydel, Daniel Haydel, Brennan Haydel, Garrett Strickland, Cory Trabeau, and Derek Vidrine along with Junior Pallbearers Hunter Strickland and Cohen Haydel. The family expresses sincere gratitude to Mrs. Jackie Gaudel, her sitter, and all the physicians and staff who gave so much love and care during this difficult journey.
