A Celebration of Life for Marion Crawford, 91, will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 am at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, LA 70737. Marion was born on August 22, 1931 in Fayette, Kentucky to Margaret Armenta Mahanes, and Charles Crawford Sr and passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Gonzales, LA. Marion grew up in the tobacco country of Kentucky where he grew very close to his grandpa Mahanes and helped him, along with his dad, Charles, tend to the tobacco fields. He went on to graduate from Versailles High School in Troy Kentucky. He was a member of the National Guard. He began work as a service station attendant and then moved to Salt Lake City where he served as a city bus driver. Later he was a tour bus driver for Lakeshore Tour Bus Line and then for Lewis Brother Stages. He also had accounts of driving for Elvis Presley's band. After all children were born, Marion moved the family down south and settled in Brittany, Louisiana. There he worked as a Sheriff's Deputy for three years and then a Guardsman for Shell Chemical where he retired with more than 20 years of service. He loved staying active, working and manicuring yards and taking care of flowerbeds. Yellow roses were his favorite. He also rejoiced is seeing all his grandkids and watching them grow up. Marion is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Crawford; brothers Charlie Jr and Howard Crawford; sisters, Christine White and Anne Gumm; wife, Joyce Crawford; sons, Gale and Ricky Crawford; and daughter, Norma Jean Crawford and step-daughter, Debbie Solar. Left to cherish his memory is one brother, James Crawford; sons, Billy, Gary, Alan and wife Roxy, and Eddie and wife Molly; daughter, Tammy Limb Bodily and husband Troy; and step-son, Dwain Bercegeay and wife Angelia; 28 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 11 great- great-grandchildren.
