Lyonell G. Dixon, a resident of Galvez, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the age of 82. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was retired from Ormet after 35 years of service. He fought the good fight. He did not waiver in his faith. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a lifelong member of Carpenter’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing all sports, camping, traveling, board games, playing cards, listening to Blue Grass music and watching his Western movies. Lyonell is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Ficklin Dixon, four daughters and sons-in-law, Lynnette and Roger Russell, Debbie and Roger Mosher, Rhonda and Rick Shepard, and Sondra and the late Richard Rodriguez, all of Galvez; ten grandchildren and spouses: Roger and Angel Russell, Shane Russell, Tiffani and Dave Cavell, Derrick and Keri Rushing, Zack and Laura Rodriguez, Sarah Rodriguez, Chase and Lexi Mosher, Casey and Justin Bourgeois, Travis and Faith Shepard, Nicci and Todd Cannon; 19 greatgrandchildren and one forthcoming soon; brother, Lynn Dixon and sister-in-law, Ruby Dixon. Preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Josephine Dixon; brother, Leslie Dixon; sister-in-law, Jean Dixon; great-granddaughter, Britnee Duplessis; son-in-law, Richard Rodriguez. Visitation will be held at Carpenter’s Chapel UMC on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 9:00 am until service time 11:00 am, conducted by Rev. Dr. Peter Harrington and Rev. Larry Ficklin. Interment will follow at Ficklin Cemetery in Galvez. Pallbearers will be grandsons; Honorary pallbearers will be Tiffani and Sarah. The family would like to thank Dr. John Fraiche, Dr. Michael Castine and St. Joseph Hospice for all the great care throughout his illness.
