Louis Charles Landry, age 69, passed away Monday April 11, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was a native of Sorrento and lifelong resident of Gonzales, LA. Mr. Louis was retired from Vulcan Chemical and was a member of the USW. Mr. Louis met monthly with his retired buddies from USW. Mr. Louis was a Navy Veteran serving his country for 3 year active duty and 3 years reserve, during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the NRA, CCA, Wounded Warriors and American Legion of Gonzales Post #81, past Eagle Scout and he also loved going to the camp to relax and fish. Mr. Louis was survived by his sister, Veronica Hebert; sister n law Nelda Powell and husband Howard; nieces, Celia Carpenter and husband Michael, Joycelyn Craig, Swaantje Hoffman and husband Kevin; Joy Sparks and husband Terry nephew, Paul Powell and wife, Marcha, Danny Powell and wife Kari; nephew, Glen Hurst; brother-in-law, William Hurst and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; God Children Celia Carpenter, Joycelyn Craig, Jody Delatte, Tyrone Reider, and James Settoon. Louis is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Anna Landry, his parents, Charles Phillip and Edna Theriot Landry; sisters Marie (Netsy) Hurst, Joycelyn Landry. He will truly be missed by many including longtime neighbor, Danny Alford and home nurse Quincy Glover. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Gonzales from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am. Father Micheal Galea will officiate. Entombment will immediately follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery. The family would like to offer special thanks to RCU, Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for all their help and support.
