Loretta Ann Babin Himel, a native of Duplessis La, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born on December 19, 1940, to Robert Joseph Babin and Elma Marie Braud Babin and was a 1958 graduate of Dutchtown High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a licensed cosmetologist and a cook for many years at Diez Seafood Restaurant on Coontrap Road. She was a passionate and amazing cook at home and work. She was a humanitarian, giving her time and support to family, friends, and strangers. She had a great fondness for animals, particularly cats. Loretta is survived by her son, William Michael Himel, and son-in-law, S. Marc Kovner of South Riding, Va.; brother, Terry Babin of Duplessis, La, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Other survivors include a brother and grandson. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Joseph Himel; daughter, Debra Kay Himel Frisby; parents, and one brother. Her family wishes to thank the staff at Landmark of Baton Rouge, for their care these past seven years.
