A lifetime resident of St. Amant, he passed away in his home, surrounded by loving family, on August 10, 2011. A retired boilermaker and welder, he was 80 years old. He was a corporal in the army who served during the Korean War. He loved his family, spending time outdoors, camping, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Gautreaux Delaune; three daughters, Linda D. Singletary and husband Eugene, Donna Poirrier and husband Terry, and Mona Powers and husband Glen; one son, Ricky Delaune and fiance’ Tina Landry; three sisters, Betty Gautreaux and husband Elson, Theresa Schexnayder, and Rita Bercegeay and husband Valmond; two brothers, Joseph R. Delaune and wife Daisy and Manuel Delaune and wife Cheryl; one sister-in-law, June Delaune; five grandchildren, Gena Turner, Jessica Bourgeois, Jolie Jones, Torey Powers, and Kaitlyn Powers; eight great grandchildren, Colton, Hannah, Jayden, Tyler, Kayden, Hudson, Addyson, and Abigail; and two life-long friends, Shelery and Ann Briscoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis H. and Edna Guedry Delaune; and a brother, Jerry Delaune.
A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 8:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, with Father Boby officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Mausoleum. Pallbearers are Clay Bercegeay, Brady Gautreaux, Paul Delaune, John Schexnayder, Terry Delaune and Kevin Delaune. Honorary pallbearers are Barry Delaune and Kelly Delaune.
