Larry Benjamin Loga, 81 years old, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 8:50pm. Our pillow hurling, gambling, joke telling, generous, and friend to all, husband and father was born on September 13, 1941 to Benjamin Harold Loga and Marion Smith Loga in Buras, Louisiana. He met his wife of almost 57 years, Patricia Gerkin in Pilottown, Louisiana. Marrying young, they grew up together and went on to have four children; Larry Loga, Jr., Steven Loga (Kim), Melissa Caro (Timothy), and Jason Loga (Amanda). They made loving homes in Pilottown, Boothville, Belle Chasse, and Gonzales, Louisiana. In his twenties, Larry owned the Bumble Bee Bar in Pilottown and was a commercial fisherman. In his later years, along with their children, Larry and Patricia owned several businesses in the seafood industry including: P&L Seafood, Tuna Fresh, Seafood Warehouse and Off the Hook Seafood. The couple also owned and operated P&L Racing Stables. In his retirement years Larry sold seafood for many friends and acquaintances he met throughout his career. Larry was a jokester who loved to get a reaction out of his loved ones. He never met a stranger and was extremely generous, wanting to help people in any way he could. Larry’s hobbies included pillow throwing at all of his grandchildren, and even his great-grandchildren. It was an art he has surely passed on to future generations. He enjoyed horse racing, spending time in the casino, and of course his time with his wife Pat. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Marion Loga, his sisters; Ann Fontenot, Lois Trahan, and brother, Terry Lee Loga. Larry is survived and dearly missed by his loving wife Patricia, his children: Larry B., Steven, Melissa, Jason and their spouses; his 9 grandchildren: Tyler (Catherine), Hailey (Danny), Alec, Alaina, Brice, Aidan, Mollie, Savannah, and Grayson; his 2 great-grandchildren, Hailyn and Danny; his 8 surviving brothers and sisters, and a slew of cousins, nieces and nephews. Our family would like to send heart-felt thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Carpenter House Hospice for the phenomenal care we all received there. Services will be held in Gonzales, Louisiana at Ourso Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 9-1 with interment following at Hope Haven Memorial Gardens in Gonzales. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oursofh.com for the Loga family.
