Kay Marie Bergeron, born October 4, 1941, entered eternal rest on April 10, 2025, at Gonzales Healthcare in Gonzales, LA., at 83 years of age. Kay was a devout Catholic. Her devotion to her faith and family guided her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Bergeron and Netta Haydel Bergeron. Kay is survived by her brothers, Donald Bergeron (Karen) and Lynn Bergeron (Joan). Also survived by her pride and joy, her nieces and nephews, Linette Guillory, Steve Bergeron, Stacy Jackson, Rob Bergeron, Danielle Calbert, and Patrick Bergeron. Also, her great nieces and nephews, Jake Guillory, Shelbi Schexnayder, Zack Bergeron, Holli Jackson, Cole Singletary, Seth Jackson, Gavin Calbert, Olivia Bergeron and Jane Bergeron, and her 2nd great-grand nephews and nieces, Reed Brignac, Jax Guillory, Alli Guillory, Scotti Schexnayder, and Kellen Schexnayder. Kay’s determination and courage, in facing life with many challenges, is best described by a quote from Christopher Reeve; “For everyone who thought I couldn’t do it… for everyone who thought I shouldn’t do it…for everyone who said, “It’s impossible’…see you at the finish line!”. Kay saw and crossed that “finish line” when graduating from Romeville High School in 1960, receiving her B.S. degree in education from Nicholls State University in 1964, teaching high school English at Romeville High School for 8 years, then working as a librarian at St. James Library in Lutcher, LA for 25 years. Services will be at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1022 N. Burnside Ave, Gonzales, LA on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, visitation will be from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Kay’s final resting place will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Convent, LA. Honoring Kay in serving as her pallbearers are Rob Bergeron, Steve Bergeron, Patrick Bergeron, Jake Guillory, Scott Guillory, and Paul Jackson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Manning Family Children’s Hospital, formerly Cripple Children’s Hospital, where Kay received treatment.
