John Henry “Buck” Haw, Jr., a native of Morrow and resident of Gonzales, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the age of 84. He was a husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather who will be greatly missed. He proudly served in the United States Army and was employed as a Welder for many years. He enjoyed traveling, playing baseball at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, watching western movies, farming, but most of all spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Helen Marie Mullen Haw; two daughters, Carolyn Marie Haw and husband Mitchell Donnaud Jr. and Margaret “Meg” Michelle Madere and wife Darce’ Hood; one son, John Henry “Hank” Haw III; three sisters, Carol Haw Hardeman, Connie Haw Honey and husband Johnny Honey, and Violet “Vicki” Haw Jackson; four grandchildren, Katelyn Payton, Brendon Monceret, Mackenzie McGhee and husband Chance McGhee, and Delaney Madere; two great grandchildren, Avery Payton and Kye Payton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Inez and John Haw, Sr.; one sister, E. Gertrude Haw; and one brother, Claude Dale Haw. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. John Knapp, Fresenius, Feliciana Home Health, and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care of Baton Rouge for their care and compassion.
