Jeanne' "Johnnie" Pugh

Johnnie attended Southeastern Louisiana University, and graduated from Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught in East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parishes with most of her time at The Runnels School in Baton Rouge. Johnnie enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a genuine love for people and rejoiced in helping people feel special. Known for her sweet spirit and loving nature, she always had a smile and kind words for everyone she met. Johnnie will be remembered for her selfless generosity and was widely considered to be a joy to have around.

Johnnie is preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Llewellyn Richardson; brothers, Glenn “Buddy” and Keith Richardson, husband, Jessie E. Pugh and one son, David L. Pugh.

She is survived by one son, Chris Pugh (Rachel); sisters, Frances “Frankie” Estes (Joe), Jennifer Richardson, Susan Walton (Lynn); grandchildren, Dave Richardson (Sisa), Cameron Carlos (Claudia), Chris Pugh, Jr., Joshua Pugh, and Rebecca Pugh; great-grandchildren, Stella Marie Richardson and Alexander Jesse Richardson.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation which will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Ascension Baptist Church from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in Carter Cemetery, Springfield, LA.
