"A gracious woman shall find glory and the strong shall have riches." Proverbs 11:16. A loving sister, she died at her home Sunday, March 20, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 93. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her, but will forever live in our beautiful memories. There will be a visitation at St. Mark Catholic Church, 4202 La. 621, Gonzales, on Wednesday, March 23, from 9:30 a.m. until a rosary at 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the church at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Rubin Reynolds, celebrant. Entombment will be in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery, 604 E. La. 30, Gonzales. She was born Dec. 5, 1917, in Brignac, and a lifelong resident of Gonzales. She was married to Nester Berthelot on June 16, 1936, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Amant. Jeanne was a member of the Ladies Altar Society for many years at St. Mark Church, said the rosary every Sunday before Mass, loved to work in her yard, was a wonderful seamstress, made all of her clothes, worked at the Pants Factory until she and her husband bought Berthelot's Restaurant (1965) in Port Vincent, which they operated for 10 years. They were also owners of Chinquapin Inn Restaurant. When her husband was drafted to serve in World War II, Jeanne went to work as a riveter on B-25 Mitchell bombers at the Aircraft Industrial Army of Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corp. She received the World War II Honorary Award in recognition of meritorious service as a member of the Aircraft Industrial Army of Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corp. This award was conferred upon Jeanne, who was inspired by a conscientious desire to serve our country in time of war. She maintained a continuous record of war production for three months without being either tardy or absent from war tasks. The award was signed by the president, A. Woodhead, in New Orleans on June 30, 1945. Of her four siblings, she is survived by one brother and three sisters, Albert Templet, Leona Morgan, Rosalie Frederic and Gatis Eve Mire. She dearly loved Van Mire (wife Darlene), Curtis Mire (wife Anita), Tammy Liotto, Linda Travis (husband Alton), Joel, Erin, Jesse, Alex Mire, Kary Millet (wife Jessica), Jeremy Mire, Leighton Carbo (wife Kelly) and Wesley Carbo, Vincent, Isaac and Shawn Liotto. Preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Delphine Templet; and five siblings, Bessie Templet Gautreau and Wilbert, Curtis, Cecelia and Eva Templet. Pallbearers will be Van, Curtis and Jeremy Mire, Leighton and Wesley Carbo and Vincent Liotto. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Templet, David Morgan, Michael Frederic, Kary Millet, Isaac and Shawn Liotto. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the loving care of Jeanne to Dr. Robert Hart, Health Care Options, Council on Aging, St. Joseph Hospice and caretakers Sue Babin, Barbara Breaux and Kathy Davis.
