Janice Marie Brammer died on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the age of 96. She was born on June 3, 1926 in Alexandria, Louisiana; the daughter of Jean Pierre and Ruth Hannegan Normand. After moving to Lake Charles in 1935 Janice attended Lake Charles High School where she received the nickname, “Pickle”. She attended Enterprise Baptist Church and worked at Muller’s Department Store. Janice married Karl Edmund Brammer on December 29, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lake Charles, LA. Her family moved to Gonzales in 1958 where she volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Hospital, at her children’s schools, and was always active at church. She loved to sew and her homemade quilts are still treasured by her descendants. Janice's heart’s desire would be that everyone would know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. Janice is survived by her 4 children, Cynthia Ruth Griffith of Baton Rouge, Martha Anna Olson (Rod) of Gonzales, Peter Normand Brammer (Teresa) of Lake Charles, and Elizabeth Dorothea Decker (Dan) of Janesville, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren, Ronald Hughes (Miranda), Stefanie Fletcher (Darrell), Karl Joseph Hughes (Debra), Angelique Hutchison, Dagmar Hebert (Clayton), Daiva Bhandari (Neil), Jeremy Brammer, Megan Brammer, James Decker (Danielle), Faith Wiechers (Eric), and Jakobi Decker. There are also numerous great, great-greats and several bonus great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and 2 first cousins. Janice is preceded in death by her husband and parents; her siblings, John Normand, Allen Normand and Bettye Garnett. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Ourso Funeral Home on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 9:30AM-11AM. A Celebration of Janice’s Life will follow at 11AM. Burial service at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles, will be Friday, January 13, 2023 at 1:00PM. The family thanks the staff at Azalea Estates and Clarity Hospice.
