Gilbert “Papoose” Delatte Sr., a lifelong resident of Maurepas, La. passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marie “Mi Mi” Rousseau Delatte; daughter, Nicole Delatte Back (Stacey); 2 sons, Gilbert “Lil Gill” Delatte (Cindy), and Brock Delatte (Amber); grandchildren, Maia McLin (Dustin), Keely Barnes (Ben), Landon Delatte (Cayla), Kaleb Delatte, Kollin Delatte and Jayden Berteau; great-grandson, Jack McLin; sisters, Emelda Fontenot and Lena “Bitsy” Balfantz (Stanley); brother, Nolan Delatte; and sisters-in-law, Lois Delatte and Dianna Delatte. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Esther Brown Delatte; brothers, Delton and David Delatte; Father and mother-in-law, Roy and Mitch Rousseau and brother-in-law, Noblisse Fontenot. A visitation will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 22502 LA-22, Maurepas, LA 70449, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 9 am until the mass of Christian burial at 11 am, conducted by Fr. Jason Palermo. He will be laid to rest in Whitehall Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are, Landon Delatte, Kaleb Delatte and Kollin Delatte, Jayden Berteau, Ben Barnes, and Dustin McLin. The Honorary pallbearers will be, Anthony “Ankie” Delatte, Greg Fontenot, Donnie Delatte, and Jeffrey Poche.
