George Vige passed away on Monday Nov. 14, 2022 at the age of 86. He was a native of Opelousas, La and a resident of Gonzales, LA. George served in the United States Army. He retired from Koch Industries as an oil gauger with 30 years of service. He was also a deacon for 48 years in the Southern Baptist denomination and a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a crawfisherman, and loved the LSU Tigers. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Way Vige; daughter, Sandra Vige Hutchcraft (Chris); son, Brian Glenn Vige (Denise); grandchildren, Kennedie Vige, Parker Vige, McCall Vige Murray (Hunter), and step-grandson, Christopher Hutchcraft; sister, Jeri Vige Shagen; Sibling-in-laws, Eldie Stafford (Odus), Sue Ellen Evans (Rodney), Faye Goralski, Sue Way, and Al Way (Gail). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel P. Guidry; brother, James Allen Vige; parents-in-law, Ruby and Lyman Way; siblings-in-law, John Shagen, James Colen Way, Kenneth Goralski, Janice Way, Jessie and Elmer Vincent, and Bonnie and Franklin “Son” Way. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Baptist Church. A Funeral service will follow beginning promptly at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at New River Baptist Church Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Brian Vige, Al Way, Andy Stafford, Chris Hutchcraft, David Way, Kevin Way, Odus Stafford, and Rodney Evans. Honorary pallbearers include Christopher Hutchcraft and Hunter Murray. A special thank you and expressions of gratitude go to Dr. Darrin Breaux, Dr. Melissa Love, and Dr. Elena Campbell.
