George Durrow Smith Jr. passed away on March 22, 2025 at the age of 88. He was born on October 1, 1936 in Abilene, Kansas to the late George Smith Sr. and Hazel Ridgeway Smith. He has now joined his parents and his late wife, Judith Lynn Hooper Smith, in their heavenly home. He is survived by his two daughters, Jodie Lynn Smith and Susanne Tracy Smith and grandchildren, Paige Sannasardo, Christopher Devore, Sydney Long, Devin Smith, Lilly Smith, Jennifer Smith and Samantha Smith.
George proudly served his country in the US Navy serving as a Commandant, Airman and Air Controlman in the 9th Naval District. He then went on to attend KU in Kansas and LSU in Louisiana where he was a member of Sigma NU fraternity. George had a successful career as a landscape architect. During this time, he received numerous awards, including two presidential awards. He also enjoyed racing cars and motorcycles and collected antique British motorcycles. George was a man of family and faith and was very active in the Fellowship Church. He loved spending time with family and friends; he will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
