A native and resident of Galvez, he passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010. He was 92 and a retired plant operator with Allied Signal. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Thursday, Aug. 26, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting will resume at the funeral home on Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Funeral service will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Galvez, on Friday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Charles Marceaux officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Trilby and Michael Sevario and Magdalene and Kirby Edmonston; son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Melonie Roddy; sisters, Lucille Dixon and Paralee Thibodeaux; brother, Stanley Dixon; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Lucille McCon Roddy; parents, Desmond and Ellen Stevens Roddy; daughter, Annie Nell Stroughter; son, Kirby Joe Sr.; sisters, Mary Roddy and Violet Villar; and brothers, Berlin, Joseph “J.T.” Roddy Sr. and Valmond Roddy. Pallbearers will be Pan Stroughter, Kirby Roddy Jr., Bryce Bourgeois, Chad Roddy, Ashley Savario and Richard Roddy III. He was a member of New River Masonic Lodge 402, F&AM and Mount Zion Baptist Church.
