Gary Dale Fortney

Gary Dale Fortney, age 66, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 in St. Amant, LA as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was a native of Beardstown, IL and a resident of St. Amant. Gary worked as Chief Engineer for American Commercial Barge Line. He was a Marine who served in Vietnam. Gary was a Maritime Brother of the Mississippi River, a mason, American Legion and VFW members. Survived by his mother Phyllis Phelps Anderson of Beardstown, IL; daughter Marian Kelley and companion George Lee of St. Amant; son Spencer Fortney of Beardstown, IL; sisters Stacey Robertson and Gail Anderson; brothers Joe Fortney, George Anderson, Dennis Anderson and Russell Anderson; grandchildren Alaina, Adalyn and Avah Kelley, Isiah and Brooklyn Fortney. Preceded in death by his father Gerald Edward Fortney; sister Beth Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Phelps. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 5PM – 9PM at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales and will resume at Colwell Funeral Home in Beardstown, IL on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 9AM until a celebration of Gary's life at 11AM.
