A resident of Galvez, she went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2012. She was the last survivor of the union of Wiley Taylor and Alice Goodrich Atkinson. Born July 21, 1917, she was 95 years old. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Terry and Kay Kelley, Iva “Dimple” and Bill Rourke, Donna Kelley, Troy and Peggy Kelley. Seven grandchildren: Jamie Crawford, Cindy “Sin” Nickens, Chris and Mike Healy, Travis Kelley, Natasha and Benjamin Kelley. Six great grandchildren, Hailee Crawford, Amanda and Dakota Nickens, Ashlyn, Alyssa and Hannah Kelley. A member of Little Prairie Baptist Church, she lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. She would have us remember one thing: know Jesus, live, walk, trust and rest in Him. She spent a lot of her time studying the Bible, praying, and writing poems. One of her favorite verses was John 3:16, she rarely neglected the opportunity to witness for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, wherever she went. She believed that at death, the physical body returns to dust, and the soul of the believer is welcomed into Heaven. She believed what the Bible says in 2 Peter 3:9, that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Her prayer was that all of you who read this would take John 3:16 seriously, and, if you haven’t already, would receive the gift of eternal life. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and continues Saturday from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m., to be conducted by the Rev. Bruce Worrell and Rev. Mel Daniels. Interment will be in Carpenters Chapel Cemetery, Galvez. Pallbearers will be Travis Kelley, Benjamin Kelley, Dakota Nickens, Geoff Crawford, Todd Nickens and James Watson. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Rourke. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alton Earl Kelley; brothers, Perkins, Andrew, Thomas, Walter, and Eddie; sisters, Mamie, Dellie, Nettie, and Sara Marie; and great grandson, her precious angel, Chaz Crawford. Her family cherishes the memories of her faithful love for all, which was rooted in Jesus faithful love for her. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.oursofh.com.
