I will always remember Brother Dave's kind eyes, his gentle nature, and his magnificent voice.  Most importantly, however, I will remember his love, faithfulness, and service to our Lord and his unfailing devotion to his beautiful Ms. Lucille.  I instantly had to look up "The Holy City" to listen to it in his honor, but of course no one can sing it like Brother Dave.  I know he was met with the open arms of Jesus, and heaven certainly rejoiced when Brother Dave went home.  Praying for peace and the ease of hurting for Ms. Lucille and his entire family, the peace and healing that only our Father can give.  All of my love and prayers. Lisa

His smile and heart could light up a room. Love him and Mrs. Lucille very much.

"God has blotted them out,
I am glad, I am happy and free,
God has blotted them out,
I will turn to Isaiah and see,
Chapter forty four, verses twenty two and three,

That is my earliest memory of Bro. Dave.

Mrs. Lucille, Alan and Dennis - I am so sorry for your loss and can only imagine the heartache you are experiencing.  I am so glad we have the HOPE of Heaven and knowledge of seeing him again. 

Mrs. Lucille - I am praying earnestly for you to feel Our Lord's arms around you - holding you- carrying you through this "valley of the shadow of death".

Our loss is heaven's gain . . . it sounds trite, but it is really true. We will surely miss his sweet smile and cheerful disposition, the kind and encouraging words, and his spot in the bass section of the choir. But we know he has gained more than we can imagine.

Bro. David was a blessing to everyone at Ascension Baptist Church and an inspiration to many, especially those who heard him continuing to sing God's praises into his 80s. God's blessing and comfort to Ms. Lucille and his loved ones.

Ms. Lucille and Family,  The Bible tells us that it says in Hebrews 13:1-2 (King James Version (KJV): 13 "Let brotherly love continue. 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."  Mr. Dave was an 'angel' (a being full of Gods love, mercy compassion and truth)  here on earth, and now the Lord needs him to be an 'honored angel' in heaven.  I know that Mr. Dave was filled with exceedingly wonderful joy when he heard the Master say: "Well done good and faithful servant,.. enter".  My heart goes out to you all.  Ms. Lucille, call on me if you "just need to talk".  It is my turn to offer you all that I am, a friend when you are in need.  Love, Sandy Noel.

Thank God Almighty for the Hope we have in Heaven. While our hearts are shattered and he will be missed ever so much, we lean deeply into Jesus for comfort during this forever life changing loss. Uncle Dave, we loved you and your sweet heart and our family has lots of beautiful memories of you over the years. The last time we saw you was at Mom's funeral Feb 2011,and you sang together with the rest of the "kids". Beautiful!!! You will live in our hearts, until we meet again.

Heaven sure is sweeter.... we believe that many were at it's gates, cheering his arrival.

When I heard of Bro. Dave's passing Friday, one of my first thoughts was of his singing "The Holy City"...and I thought now he is THERE!!

More than any man I ever met, this was a man who truly lived out his faith. His homecoming in heaven on Friday must have been something to see. I know my parents, my brother Bill and my sister Sherry were there to welcome him with open arms. He sang at my wedding and at my father's funeral. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. My love and prayers are with Ms Lucille and the boys.
