Clayton Hugh Stevens, a native of Tangipahoa Parish and a resident of Gonzales, died Sunday, June 25, 2011. A U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict, he was 76, a retired heavy equipment operator for the parish of Ascension and a member of Local 406 Operating Engineers. He is survived by his loving wife, Evie Johnson Stevens, of Gonzales; daughters and sons-in-law, Janie and Johnny Ebeling, of Killian, Billie Sue Pendarvis, of Lake, and Jackie and Mark Leto, of Gonzales; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Howell, of St. Amant, Larry and Joyce Howell, of Gonzales, and Billy and Lisa Howell, of Largo, Fla.; sisters and brother-in-law, Sara Mapes, of Robert and Marion and Jessie Jones, of Hammond; brother and sisters-in-law, Preston and Josephine Stevens, and Loura Stevens, all of Kentwood, and Shelia Stevens, of Port Sulphur; 32 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Mable Hyde Stevens; two brothers, Monroe and Carroll Stevens; and a son-in-law, Grant Jon Pendarvis. A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Sunday, June 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at Ourso Funeral Home on Monday, June 27, from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Donnie Easley, Brother Mark Leto and Brother Lawrence Parker. Burial will follow at Beauty Hill Family Cemetery in Killian.. Pallbearers are sons and grandsons.
