A resident of Gonzales and native of Baton Rouge, she passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the age of 82. Born April 30, 1930, she was an independent, energetic and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid bowler and dancer, loved working in her yard and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, J. Byron Lato and wife Rachel, Rory Lato and wife Mary, Thomas Lato and wife Julie and daughter-in-law Kaye Lato; 14 grandchildren, Stephen Mark Lato and wife Sabrina, Sam Lato and wife Michelle, Kaci Roy and husband Genin, Shaun Lato and wife Cherie, Heather Landry and husband Trey, Rory Lato, Jr. and wife Nicole, Scott Lato and wife Erin, Brett Lato, Kayla Lato, Lindsey Hargroder and husband Kyle, BJ Lato, and Madeline, Sadie and Dominic Lato; and 8 great-grandchildren, Stephen Michael and Rosalie Lato, Lillian and Ian Landry, Ellie and Cecilia Lato, Blaise Lato, and Hannah Lato. Preceded in death by husband, and love of her life, Roland Bercegeay; parents, Alvin and Edna Boudreaux Barbay; and son, Stephen Lato. Visitation Friday, December 21, 2012, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy., Gonzales, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation to resume on Saturday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Gonzales, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment in Hope Haven Garden of Memory, Hwy. 30, Gonzales.
