On July 17th, 2020 Charles Zack “Sonny” Guice of Prairieville, La. went to his final resting place after 89 years of life filled with adventures. Sonny’s real passion in life was in the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his kids and grandkids.
Sonny is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Giacone Guice, father, Joseph Adrian Guice Sr, mother, Annie Payne Guice, brother, Joseph Adrian Guice Jr. and three sisters, Wilma Alma Guice, Mary Cleo Baker and Jo Ann Sikes.
Sonny is survived by his son James Roy “Goosie” Guice (Lucette) and daughters Daphne Jane Nelson (Gerry), Deborah Kay Johnson (Lyle) and Denise Mary Dagash; ten Grandchildren Caitlyn Guice, Chevonne Molliere Kahn, Benji Jones, Kristi Thiha, Natalie Peterson, Kaycee Johnson, Wesley Johnson, Gabrielle Woest, Melody Dagash and Malek Dagash; thirteen Great-Grandchildren, Landon and Camrin Jones, Ezra Thiha, Nola and Autumn Peterson, Canaan and Isabella Watts, Enoch and Eli Woest, Parker and Justus Johnson, Mikayla Bordelon and Nicholas Khan.
Sonny was also an avid duck and fish carver, an exercise enthusiast which included training for the Ironman competition in Hawaii. Sonny was a long term employee of Turner Industries. He was a member of Boilermakers Local #582, East Ascension Sportsman’s League, CCA, NRA, Louisiana Wildlife Federation and Ducks Unlimited.
Pall Bearers will be Benji Jones, Wesley Johnson, Gerry Nelson, Leonard Dodd, Larry Gill and Wes Hart.
Sonny’s wake will take place at Ourso Funeral Home on Thursday night July 23rd from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. continuing on Friday morning July 24th with visitation from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and the service following. Burial will take place at Hope Haven in Prairieville.
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest have a drink or enjoy a fine meal with a friend in his memory.
