Carol Joy Rushing

Carol Rushing, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022, surrounded by her family, at the age of 79. Carol was a lifelong resident of Galvez, LA. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed her time at the fishing camp, going on cruises and taking road trips with her husband of 62 years, Bobby Joe Rushing. Carol is survived by her husband Bobby Joe Rushing, daughter, Melissa Mullins; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Monty Gore; sons and daughters-in-law, Dean Rushing and Tawanah, Mark Rushing and Dana; sister Rosemary Brown (Joe); grandchildren, Brooke (Clint) Gautreau, Jonathan (Marsha) Rushing, Kacie Rushing, Nelson "Trey" Roth III (Maddie), Danielle Gore, Shawn Rushing, Shay Rushing; and great grandchildren, Parker and Conner Gautreau, Karson Armand, Spencer and Everett Rushing, Alyssa Enicke, Hunter, Haidyn and Bentley Gore, Ruby Roth . She is preceded in death by her parents, Avery Cornett, Sr., and Mae Cornett; four sisters, Doris Lambert, Ollie West, Violet Guitreau, and Myrna Buratt; one brother, Avery Cornett, Jr; grandson, Dustin Gore.

There will be a visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement, Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jason Palermo, celebrant. Pallbearers will be Trey Roth, Jonathan Rushing, Shawn Rushing, Clint, Parker and Conner Gautreau. The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregiver Tammy Gagnard for her compassion and excellent care in Carol’s final days.
