Brodie John Bourgeois was born on August 2, 2006, and passed away on December 5, 2023. From an incredibly early age Brodie showed a passion for the arts. He was truly a gifted musician and artist. Brodie was a senior at Dutchtown High School and a proud member of the Dutchtown High School Band, which recently received the distinguished honor of “2023 Showcase Grand Champions”. He was also a member of the Robotics club and 4-H. He had a vast array of talents including archery, robotics and participating in the Gifted and Talented Program for both Art and Music. Brodie received numerous honors as a musician; 2023 SLU Honor Band, 2023 LMEA All State and selection to Baton Rouge Youth Orchestra. He had a kind heart and much love for his large family and circle of friends. His favorite pastimes included online games with friends, flying his drone, playing a variety of musical instruments, and composing original music pieces.
Brodie is survived by his parents Shelley Babin Bourgeois and Aaron John Bourgeois, and his sister Bailey Jude Bourgeois; grandparents; Lena Diez Babin and Judy Tircuit Bourgeois, aunts; Teresa Babin Bourgeois (Marty), Trudy Babin DePierri (Thomas), Lori Latimer, Leah Bourgeois, Dana Mitchell (Andy), Michelle Becker (Rodney), uncles; Dr. Kevin Babin (Paige), Keith Babin (Lucy), Shane Babin, Joey Bourgeois, Seth Bourgeois (Joyce), Dean Bourgeois (Crystal), and a host of many cousins. He is proceeded in death by grandfathers Shelton H. Babin, Jr. and Raoul J. Bourgeois. Pallbearers are Jared Bourgeois, Jeremy Avrill, Matthew Avrill, Reid Babin, Zachary Babin, Trent Bourgeois, Jake Bourgeois, Joshua Carithers and Michael Thomas and honorary pallbearer will be Caleb Thomas.
The Bourgeois family would like to acknowledge that Brodie gave the most precious gift anyone could give, the gift of saving the lives of others through organ donation.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 15208 Highway 73, Prairieville, Louisiana, 70769, on Thursday, December 7th from 9:30 am until the funeral service at 12:30 pm. Burial will be at Cornerview Cemetery and a reception will follow at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Community Center at 13165 Highway 73, Geismar, Louisiana 70734.
