A resident of St. Amant and native of Gonzales, he passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 48 and a senior instrument technician with Emerson Instrument and Valve. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, Thursday, July 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, Friday from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Gyan, celebrant. Entombment in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Gonzales. Survived by his wife of 14 years, Robin K. Melancon; mother, Hazel B. Melancon; three daughters, Bridget D. Melancon, Betsy N. Melancon and Taylor R. Melancon; son, Christopher J. Melancon; and sister, Tracy M. Boudreaux. Preceded in death by his father, J. Terry Melancon; and grandparents, Juliet Babin Mayers, Leus P. Babin, Lucille B. Melancon, and Ray Melancon. Pallbearers will be Royce Babin, Matt Kivett, Randy Denham, Ricky Breaux, Dwayne Melancon and Col. Doug Melancon. Serving as honorary pallbearers are André Boudreaux and Timothy Marchand. He was a lifetime member of the McElroy Hunting Club and an avid hunter and jambalaya cook who loved being outdoors.
