Betty Aime Savoy was born March 14, 1941 in New Orleans and entered the kingdom of heaven March 26, 2023. She spent her childhood living in Sorrento, LA and later moved to St. Amant (Acy) with her best friend and husband, Joseph E. “Butch” Savoy III.
Betty and Butch had two children. Together, with their son and daughter, she enjoyed summer vacations traveling in their motor home. Betty loved the Rocky and Smokey Mountains. She enjoyed fishing and looked forward to their annual spring stay at Toledo Bend.
Betty was a dedicated wife and mother. She took pride in providing her family with a safe, clean and nurturing environment as well as a hot meal. Everyone was welcome. Betty worked part-time within her home as a bookkeeper for Duplessis Gas Co. so that she could be present for her children’s extracurricular activities. She loved watching her son play football and remained a St. Amant Gator fan well beyond his high school years. Betty enjoyed Saturday nights in Death Valley and Sunday evenings watching the Saints. In her later years, she worked outside the home and retired from Our Lady of the Lake Hospital where she worked in the business office processing insurance claims.
Betty was a loyal and faithful friend. Monthly, she would gather with high school classmates (Silver Belles) for lunch. She also had a circle of friends that she enjoyed playing Pokeno and Dominos with. During summer months, mowing her lawn brought her pleasure.
Betty will be remembered for her grateful heart, kindness, loyalty and love for God. Her faith was strong and she willingly shared it with others. For many years she taught CCD and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She illuminated God’s light in all that she did.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Rena Aime; brothers, John Aime and Ted Melancon; son, Kerry Parent; husbands, Joseph E. Savoy III and John "Buddy" Tullier, Sr.
Betty’s memory will live on through her children, Ricky (Julie) Savoy, Stephanie (Nick) Conerly and adored grandchildren, Lauren (Bug) LeBlanc, Rachel Conerly, Wyatt Savoy, Morgan Savoy and Erin Conerly as well as her siblings Barbara (Bobbie) LeBlanc, Norris (Charlene) Melancon, Darryl Melancon and Juancita (Brother) Babin.
Viewing will be at St. Anne Catholic Church in Sorrento on Friday, March 31st beginning at 11:30 AM until the mass at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of her first born, Kerry Parent. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oursofh.com for the Savoy family.
