Betty Bonin Dugas, age 79, passed away Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014. She was born on July 21, 1935 in Rayne, LA, reared in Donaldsonville, LA and was a resident of Gonzales, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents Eli Bonin, and Eve Meaux Bonin, and infant triplet siblings Peter, Paul, and Mary Bonin. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Alvin J. Dugas, Jr., children and their spouses, Mark and Mary Beth Dugas, Michelle and Michael Tubre, and Renee and David Patton, and six grandchildren, Joel Tubre, Aaron, Amelia and Seth Dugas, Claire and Andy Patton; three great-grandchildren, Zea, Bree and Adia Tubre, and sisters Joan Medine, Ramona Trahan, Kathy Morris, and brothers Donald Bonin, Tom Bonin, Tim Bonin, and Joseph Bonin. Betty and A.J. made a home for their family in White Castle, La until their retirement in 1991. They moved to Belleville, TX where together they worked for Hot Shot Company traveling the United States extensively. Upon retirement from Hot Shot, Betty and A.J. settled in a small retirement community in Gonzales. Betty (Ganny, as referred to affectionately by her Grandchildren) loved to dance, so when they weren’t visiting their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they could be found on most any night at Boutin’s in Baton Rouge, shaking a leg to their favorite Cajun music songs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s research. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014 at St Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales La, from 9:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon followed by a private Cremation service.
