Alice Sheets

Alice M. Sheets, a longtime resident of Duplessis, Louisiana and co-owner of Sheets Hardware passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the age of 92. Alice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother,

great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of the St. John’s Ladies Altar Society and loved quilting. She is survived by her three children, Terrell Sheets (Elizabeth Swoope), Monica Sheets Lavigne (Perry) and Beth Sheets Laiche (Donald); 7 grandchildren, Amy Lavigne, Jamie Laiche (Angie), Shelli Sims (Damon), Kacie Laiche (Jared), Ryan Lavigne (Jenny), Jacob Sheets (Sarah) and Kelli Jean (Adam) and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Kerney T. Sheets, parents Victor A. Schexnayder Sr. and Celine Martinez Schexnayder, siblings Ida Schexnayder, Beatrice “Bea” Waggenspack and Victor “Boy” Schexnayder, Jr.

Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 9:00am to 10:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 15208 Hwy 73, Prairieville, celebrated by Reverend Jerry Martin. Interment will follow in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Mausoleum-Prairieville, LA. Pallbearers will be Eddie Hymel, Jamie Laiche, Damon Sims, Jared Laiche, Ryan Lavigne, Jacob Sheets and Adam Jean. Honorary pallbearer will be Cole Sims. The family would like to give special thanks to our wonderful caregivers Jessica Everett, Barbara Harrell, Jenny Thomas and Rita Cannon for their loving and compassionate care.
