Alice "Pookie" Buratt

GONZALES-A native of Prairieville, she was born on January 17, 1938 and passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at age 76. She was a retired cook/homemaker. She is survived by her son, David Buratt and companion Lois Bryant; son and daughter-in-law, Teddy and Gaynell Buratt; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Randy Kling; four grandchildren; Stevie Ebeling, Rebecca Achord, Rene Kling, and Tiffany Buratt; six great-grandchildren, Chelsi Ebeling, Jace Ebeling, Lexi and Payton Achord, Aiden and Mason Loughlin, two brothers; James “Jimmy” Anderson and wife Sheila, Cecil “Doc” Anderson and wife Sue; two sisters; Laverne Moore, and Joann Guedry and husband Nolan. Preceded in death by husband, William “Sonny” Buratt; son, Ronnie Buratt; grandchildren, Michael Buratt and Rylee Achord; parents, Ehlert Frank Sr.“Doc” and Leona “L.C.” Anderson; two sisters; Earline Elisar and Rosalie Gill; three brothers; Honore “Ray”, Ehlert Frank “Jr“, and Clyde Anderson.

Visitation will take place at Ourso Funeral Home on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am. The funeral service will be held at Ourso Funeral Home on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 10:00 am with Pastor Larry Ficklin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Clyde “Bo-Jack” Anderson Jr, Earl Gill, Randall Gill, Nolan Guedry, Dale Guedry, and Stevie Ebeling. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors/staff of Ascension Oaks, STEH, Promise Hospital-Mancuso, and Carrington Place.
