Doris Christine Astrid Anderson Scott died at her residence in Eagan, MN on April 28, 2019 at the age of 104. Doris was born Nov 24th, 1914 in Willmar, MN to John and Josephine Anderson. She graduated from Willmar H.S. in 1932. She worked for Northwestern Bell as a switchboard operator until her marriage to Howard M. Scott on Dec 31, 1938. They lived in Virginia, Duluth, and Minneapolis, MN; and Sioux Falls SD as Howard advanced at NW Bell. In retirement they lived on Maple Lake in MN and in Hide Away Lake, Texas. In 1990 they returned to Willmar where Howard died in 1995. Doris exemplified a life well lived, overcoming childhood hardships, and using her talents and faith to raise her family and influence all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doris was active in her church serving as a Sunday School teacher and deaconess, and in the church library. She volunteered at Rice Memorial Hospital until she was 92. Doris is fondly remembered for her gourmet cooking, photographic memory (intact until her death), putting together 1000 piece puzzles to “keep her mind sharp”, her passionate political opinions, and her love of Jesus and her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 infant daughters, husband Howard, 3 sisters and 1 brother, son David, and daughter-in-law Carol. She is survived by 3 sons, John Scott, Gary (Jane) Scott, Bruce (Sandy) Scott; daughter-in-law Jane Scott; 11 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
We would like to acknowledge the wonderful care given to Doris in her last week of life by the staff at New Perspectives Senior Living and Health Partners Hospice.
A Memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 20700 Kenrick Ave, Lakeville, MN on July 7. Visitation with family at 2pm and service at 3pm.
Memorials preferred to Salvation Army, Samaritan’s Purse or The Refuge Church in Willmar, MN.
