Veronica Jabara, beloved “Ronnie” to her friends, passed peacefully on Sunday morning to be with our Lord. Her husband Ernie and all five of her children were by her side at her Glendora home. She lived 80 wonderful years until succumbing two days before her 81st birthday due to complications from a prolonged battle with cancer.
She was born April 30th, 1932 in Albury, Australia to Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Nowland and was the third of five daughters. Ronnie was an excellent student, a tennis champion, and a very accomplished actress and singer, with live performances at The National Theatre in Australia, as well as a singing career on radio with ABC. She married her lifelong sweetheart, Ernest Jabara, on July 25th, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Church in Australia. In 1959 they moved their young family to the United States, where Ronnie grew and nurtured her family in Charter Oak and then Glendora for the remainder of her life. Devout Catholics, Ronnie and Ernie were members of St. Dorothy’s Church where each of their five children attended school, as well as Damien and St. Lucy’s Priory.
Ronnie devoted her life to her husband and family. Nothing gave her more pleasure than being with and caring for those she loved. She was always happy, and never complained. She is survived by her husband, Ernie; her three sisters—Nonee, Pam, and Teri who live in Australia; and her children Paul, Mark, Kim, Gary, and Tina. She was blessed with six grandchildren; Chrissy, John, Hayley, David, Madison, and Cameron, as well as three great grandchildren; Katelyn, Madison, and Allison.
We will all miss her loving, caring, singing, and positive outlook in our lives. She will always be darling ‘Nana’ to our family.
SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT ST. DOROTHY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH ON MONDAY, MAY 6TH AT 11 AM.
A GRAVESITE SERVICE WILL FOLLOW AT OAKDALE CEMETERY IN GLENDORA.
