Rena Angela Palma was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. On Monday, July 19, 2021, Rena was called to her new heavenly home to join her father Perfecto Carrillo Palma and brother "Big" Benny Palma. Rena was born to Perfecto Carrillo Palma and Henrietta Fontes Palma on April 21, 1971.
After graduating from high school, Rena chased her dreams to travel and study abroad. She enrolled at Mount San Antonio College and was soon spending a year in London at University of London both studying and gaining work experience. She loved and relished the experience being in London with her classmates. After college, Rena spent multiple summers as a cook at Camp Wasewagan. It was a very special place for her, the mountain held a mogic that kept her captivated. In her time there she was so much more than the cook. She touched so many lives as part confidant, part psychiatrist, and always the maestro. To paraphrase a friend, in that kitchen she was the rhythm section, keeping a consistent groove as all hell broke loose around her.She was always available to anyone that needed, a hug, an ear, and a few past ripe apples to throw at the freezer door. Rena worked various jobs but was able to help her father in his business, Palma Trucking. Using that wealth of experience, she started her own company, R&H Palma Trucking, operating successfully until 2007. She didn't think twice about shutting down the company in order to take care of her father full time while he battled bone cancer. Rena was a loving and awesome woman.
After her father's passing, Rena desired to help families that were going through what she experienced with her father. She joined the Oakdale family in 2010, where she served families for 11 years. She was dedicated to her profession and excelled with excellence. Being the only girl in the family, it was at Oakdale Memorial Park where Rena met one of her best friends Martha Flores, from the beginning they clicked like sisters, Martha would become Rena's soul sister. Rena's Oakdale experience also gave her an opportunity to work with her mother, Henrietta, as she too worked there for a time. Rena loved being able to take her mother to the company trips such as Hawaii and Santa Barbara. While working for Oakdale Memorial, Rena earned many awards. On top of the awards, she earned the respect and love of countless families she assisted over the years.
Rena grew up and was baptized Apostolic. She loved several kinds of music, but she would still go back to listening to old gospel music, her favorite being Walter Hawkins.
Rena is survived by her mother, Henrietta Fontes Palma, brother's Paul Palm and Hank Palma and favorite nephew Benny Joseph Palma.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11am on August 21, 2021 at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, California.
