Paul Ramon Hernandez was born on April 14, 1932, in what was then known as the Town of Belvedere, in the County of Los Angeles, California, to Pablo and Francisca (Zuniga Varela) Hernandez. Paul was educated in Los Angeles and had a career in banking in Los Angeles, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 through 1953. He was also a graduate of Glendale University College of Law.
In his youth, Paul competed as a champion amateur bowler throughout the State. After achieving positions as the president of community banks, and as a real estate and tax professional, Paul became a tireless advocate for seniors and persons with disabilities as a volunteer for the Social Security Medicare Panel with California Health Advocates.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Lydia, his children and stepchildren, Elisabeth Frater (Bill), Catherine Rohlfing (Stan), Becky Settlage (Randy), John Hernandez (Michelle), Richard Hernandez (Hal), Velveth Schmitz (Chuck), Fred Dardon (Danis), Paul’s grandchildren Eric Rohlfing, Maureen Stehlik, Savanah Hernandez, Ainsley Schmitz, Hadley Schmitz, Owen Dardon, and his great-grandchildren Kennedy, Grayson, Hadley, and Lilith.
Paul was a leader, extremely intelligent, hardworking, and possessed a sensitive and supportive nature, kind heart, and he loved and provided for his family. He is missed and the memories of him will be cherished.
Funeral services are scheduled for July 6, 2024 at Oakdale Mortuary & Memorial Park, 1401 S Grand Ave, Glendora, CA 91740, with visitation at 9:00 a.m., service at 10:00 a.m. and burial at 11:00 a.m.
