Former Mayor of Glendora
Former Mayor Mike Conway died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 after an extended illness.
Services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Loraine Ave. Baptist Church, Glendora. Viewing is at 9 a.m., Memorial Service at 10 a.m.
Mike graduated from Chaffey High School, Chaffey College, and Long Beach State. He worked for the Department of Corrections and retired after 33 years as a Field Parole Administrator.
Mike and his wife Marcia Conway were Glendora Chamber of Commerce Citizens of the Year for 2007. Mike served on the Glendora City Council 2001-2005; he was Mayor Pro Tem in 2002 and served as Mayor in 2003. Mike was Chaffey Community College Alumni of the Year 2009.
Mike served and was involved in many community organizations, such as President of the Glendora Historical Society, held leadership positions in the Glendora Kiwanis Club, served on the Board of Glendora Welfare, and the Glendora Library. He also served on the Boards of Foothill Transit, Gold Line, COG, Library Centennial Committee, Glendora Community Coordinating Council, Representative to the Three Valley Municipal Water District just to name a few. Mike also was involved in and held leadership positions in the former South Hills Little League and developed and fielded the first Challenger Division in California for players with special needs.
Mike is survived by his wife Marcia, his daughter Krista Einfalt, married to Rod Einfalt, Mike’s son Douglas, married to Robyn Swart, grandchildren Kaylynn and Kurt Einfalt and Matthew and Brendan Swart, and sister Colleen Smoot and husband Phil.
Donations can be made in Mike’s name to organizations that were important to him: The Glendora Welfare Association and The Glendora Library Book Fund.
