Marsha Lou Elliott Harwick, born on Valentine’s Day Feb. 14th 1940 in San Gabriel, California entered the glorious presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 18, 2010. She is survived by her children; Clint Harwick (Lisa), Kelly Watkins ( Michael), and Paula Grady (John), her grandchildren; Clinton and Kyle Harwick, Christopher, Brittany, Zachary, Carter and Caleb Watkins, and Connor and Collin Grady. She is also survived by her sister Linda Lightbown (Chuck), their daughter Sarah as well as nephews Doug, Don, Darrell, David, niece Michelle Conklin and her mother in law Hazel Harwick.
Marsha was a lifetime educator who worked for the Glendora Unified School District for 25 years as a kindergarten teacher, eight years as a substitute teacher during her children’s early years, and led many to the Lord during her six year stint as a Children’s Ministry Director for Glenkirk Presbyterian Church. She was a voracious reader who could consume two to three novels a week, loved watching movies, and welcomed people of all ages into her home throughout her life. She loved the mountains for their simplistic beauty and the beaches for the sounds of peace. She dedicated her life to her family, sacrificing much, so her children and grandchildren could experience more. A servant leader in every sense of the word, she held a confidence in Christ that gave her patience to withstand life’s challenges including bouts with physical ailments and family deaths. A loving mother with an infectious smile, her gift of hospitality touched the lives of family, friends, and guests she welcomed with open arms; her calling card and compassion being her trademark.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 4th at 6:30 p.m. at Glenkirk Presbyterian Church located at 1700 Palopinto Avenue, Glendora, CA 91741
