July 19, 1942 – December 26, 2014
It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Maria Refugio “Cuca” Ramirez, 72, who passed December 26th, 2014. On Monday December 22, Cuca had a heart attack and was admitted to Pomona Valley Hospital. She was scheduled to be released Tuesday morning, however, prior to her release she suffered another infarction causing her death.
Cuca was born in Frias, Guanajuato, Mexico on July 19, 1942. The oldest of three beautiful children one brother Gorgonio Cabrera and a sister Maria de Jesus (deceased).
Cuca was very stern and outspoken. Yet as a child she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and ability to help people will never be forgotten.
Married for 32 years, Jose and Cuca moved to California in 1970 with three daughters. They raised their five daughters in Los Angeles, California until 1988 when the family moved to San Bernardino. In 1995 Jose passed and Cuca moved to Pomona ears and lived there until now. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Cuca faithfully cared for her family, her mother and friends through delicious cooking/baking from scratch. A woman of faith and the heart of the Ramirez family. Cuca shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example, and also through various Catholic prayer groups and activities. With a real zest for life she loved to travel, especially to her native country Mexico, pray, go to the casinos and play games especially with her grandchildren.
If I were to wish for any quality to be handed down from Cuca Ramirez to myself, my sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to any further generations, and to all her friends, is this: the capacity to love and to communicate that love to many people.
Her surviving family members are numerous but include:
