Grandma, on days like this I think of you very heavily. Today is Christmas Eve (your birthday) but it also used to be a day when our family once came together and you were still here. I often think back to memories and times we all celebrated together. The room was always filled with love and laughter. One thing I love about our family gatherings was hearing people laugh so hard from the other room. It was the laugh itself that was so funny. I remember your laugh. It is just like all our aunts. It’s contagious and I loved hearing you laugh. I sometimes miss the times when I used to follow Grandpa around the hospital waiting for you because you had a doctor's appointment. Thank you so much Grandma for our beautiful family. I remember asking you to do a specific hairstyle on me when I was younger because I saw all the kids had it and you knew exactly what to do and I loved it. I think that is one of the only times I kept my hair up when you did it because you knew I would always lose that hair tie you sent me with and I’d always throw my hair down. I miss you, Grandma. It’s only normal and we work with our emotions. I can’t thank you enough Grandma because you keep my religion alive in me, and keep me pushing forward. You are my angel. - Sarah

Josie, I want you to know when I lost my grandparents and your son Fernie it was really heard to deal with because they meant so much to me.So to hear that the person who was like a 2nd MOM to me growing up left us was really hard to deal with. I loved very much but never got a chance to tell you that or to thank you for being there for me when I was a lost teenager or thanking you for putting up with me being at your house everyday and for letting me live in your house when I needed a place to stay and Most of all thank you for treating me like part of the family. You sang me my first song, you taught me my colors, to count, and the alphabets. Between you and dad I learned the core values of God, life and family. I heart aches without you, but you are in the loving presence of God & all those that left before you. I know it was a blessed & joyful reunion. I'll see you again when God calls me home. Until then, I will miss you dearly & try to live up to the man you wanted me to be. I love you mother! You were diffinately the Queen Bee, La Reina de su familia y de Jose. I will fondly remember that you made sure to make my birthday special. You never failed to send me an annual Birthday card with a gift card for dinner. Some years a bouquet of flowers delivered to my job from you and Joe.  I'd tell you to save your money, and you'd say "no, no I want to" or "go have a date night with my son"  Who does that? A SPECIAL LADY! A mother-in-law who wanted her daughter-in-law to feel special. Last month I celebrated my 58th Birthday. It was the first time in 9 years I didn't receive your delivery. I cried! Not because I didn't get your flowers, but because I realized how special you were. How you went out of your way to make me feel special. Thank you for showing me love & kindness. You will always be remembered for who you were. Thank you Josie!

Some of my favorite memories of you are of your cooking, our intimate conversations about the lord, our conversations about family and friends, and how we expressed our love for music by listening and sharing songs. Saying goodbye was and is a hard for me but I do find great comfort in knowing that you are now with God our Father, your son and our other loved ones

HER JOURNEY'S JUST BEGUN..

Aunt josie, words can't even express what you mean to me.. always a ear to listen! you loved with all your heart and had such a love for your family, i truly admire you, you will be missed so much.. i am so saddened to know i won't hear your voice, your name out loud on our caller ID, I love you so much and will miss you tremendously!

To my beautiful and loving grandma-  You were the grandma that called every morning saying, "Sophia, Sarah get up time for school," and then another time because we didn't get up. You were the grandma that I saw every day the one who brought joy and laughter to my face. I can't say how much you lit up my world. You were unique and ordinary in your own way I loved you a lot for it. Your help and guidance was very special to me. I remember when I would be playing outside and all of a sudden I hear the car horn go off because you were telling grandpa to come and eat or the time when I would come in the house and you would be watching your favorite court show Caso Cerrado. I would always ask, "Grandma what are they saying," and you would explain it to me. I thank you for everything you have done for me like doing my hair and sewing up my teddy bears. Gosh, I will never forget when you would take us to church and then go out for Dennys and let us order the big pancake with the bacon and egg happy face, even though we didn't finish:). Even when we walked in the house and you would be on your phone and you were so happy to see us again. I will always remember and cherish all our little memories we had together. You will always be in my heart and mind forever.

To my grandma, the woman I saw everyday, the one that would wake me up saying "Sophia get up its time for school," and then a second time because I didn't wake up. I will always remember the days when I would come over and you would be watching your favorite show in Spanish and I would always ask, "Grandma what does that mean?" You were always the best, when me and Sarah would come in the house and you would be on the phone and I knew on your face you were so happy to see us. Gosh, I will never forget you at all. It was so funny when I would be playing outside and then I hear the car horn go off because you were trying to tell grandpa to come and eat. I can't thank you enough and cherish the time we had together anywhere we went. The simple thing like taking us to Denny's and letting us order the big pancake with a bacon happy face. You are the best grandma in the world. You will always be in my heart and on my mind forever.

Dear Grandma,
Everyone knows that saying final goodbyes are the hardest thing to do, but God has gained a beautiful angel. I'm going to miss you so much and always miss seeing that beautiful smile on your face. I'm going to miss hearing your voice every time I'd go over to see you. Going back and thinking about all the memories and looking back at pictures I have with you is hard because I'm holding back all the tears. Every single memory, picture, laugh, hug, and kiss I have with you, I will hold very close to my heart. You will always be loved and missed grandma. Now go on a spread your wings my beautiful guardian angel and fly. Enjoy the precious endless time with your son and my dad. 

Saying a final good bye to you is not easy. I mean how can you say good bye to someone like my grandma Josie? Someone I thought I would forever have in my life. Sounds silly but that's what I thought, that I would have you forever,never thought about the day you will no longer be here. So now I just keep talking to you in my head. I keep doing "remember when's". I keep trying to think of my favorite memory with you, but there are hundreds of little glimpses of memories. The way your face lit up everytime the kids and I walked in your house, the easy ways you would teach me to cook, the way it felt to hug you, how soft your body was underneath my arms, the way you would sit on your recliner watching your favorite tv shows, the way you would smile at Victoria everytime she would talk about how school was going , the way your eyes lit up when Danny would tell you how he's improving in his reading, the way you would say "Mija your checke is here" 
The way you would answer the phone when I would call you. 
...I love you Grandma -you truly were a very special,special woman. You may have passed on, but your memories will always live on within us. I will forever be grateful and thankful that you are my grandmother.

Today we laid you to rest. Five and a half weeks ago after celebrating grandpas birthday. As I gave you a hug goodbye you gave me one of the greatest gifts ever.- "Mija I am so proud of you and all your acomplisments" I will forever remember and cherish that hug, those words- the moment.
