Let’s see,  a memory of Grandpa. I’m going to say the obvious- I’m always going to remember him being the first one on the dance floor and trying to get low to the ground. But, with my siblings and I living next door and growing up with Grandma and Grandpa, some of my best memories was always having Grandpa there, prepared to lecture us on something. One memory I will always have engraved in my head is when I would go next door to my Grandparents house to borrow something. Grandpa would be there, standing and telling me, “Why are you kids always barefoot? You’re going to get sick!” I would always say, “I just like it and the ground doesn’t feel cold.” He would just roll his eyes at me.  As we grew older, the show ritual faded, but the memories remained. Till this day when I walk around outside barefoot,  I think of how my Grandpa used to question my choice of no shoes and now that memory brings a smile to my face. I’ll miss you Grandpa. I remember one day after church the Lord kept telling me to go see my Papa, I did. I just happened to have a Bible verse still on me which was one of my favorite verses. Ephesians 6:11, The Armor of God. I read the whole Bible verse to my Papa a few times out of my Bible and he was listening and agreeing. Most important was the Shield of Faith. I wanted to leave the bible verse with him but didn’t want him to lose it he actually told me to put it on his phone, so I did… it was a special moment I got to share with him. 

Also, another time during the following week the Lord  kept telling me to go visit Papa and I did. I was working on my homework and he said go ahead work on it, so i continued working on it in his room. He was still able to talk, he told me he was feeling warm so I got a washcloth and wet it and wiped his face down, neck and head about 3 times before I left he had thanked me and as I left to go home he blew me a kiss… I will forever cherish that memory 🙏🏽🤍🙏🏽🤍🙏🏽 

Another time when I  was a patient at Casa Colina, I actually was able to Live with my grandparents after.. But one day i came to visit them, my Aunt Reina used to pick me up to leave for a few hours, one day when i was visiting with them i had a Temptations tape someone took from me in my room, the day before i was pretty bummed about it.. I had mentioned it to my Papa and he gave me another one to replace it, i was sooo Happy!!!  I will always remember the times we would just sit and listen to Oldies and have wonderful conversations with my Beautiful Grandparents forever, such special moments!!! Love you Papa

I remember being a little girl watching the news with Papa and grandma, eating Neapolitan ice cream with him in the living room. When I was older it was Having coffee with him in their corner suit in Palm Springs and watching him dance to oldies all night long. I remember the last time I danced with him actually, it was Amanda’s wedding. It was probably one of my best memories because I saw him standing there by the dance floor shaking his leg and moving his shoulders like he wanted to so badly but grandma was apparently done on the dance floor lol. So I came up from behind him and grabbed his hand to dance and I remember him looking so happy. I never could understand where he got that energy! He was always so full of life and so positive. You could do 1,000 bad things but he always pointed out the 1 good thing. He never judged us. He was my only grandpa in my life and I’m certain he was the absolute best. He showed me what a great partner should look like and what a beautiful, happy and playful marriage should look like. He treated grandma like his queen and never denied she was the boss. They were and always will be the best love story in my eyes.

My fondest memories of grandpa was when I lived with them briefly. He was always supportive of me in any situation and I’ll cherish the memories hanging out late night eating burgers (from Johnny’s), watching tv ( dancing with the stars), and cracking jokes. Another special time we shared was attending the Motown musical, and we all know how much he loved his oldies 🎶 Grandpa was an amazing dancer, incredibly handy and had a lot of wisdom. We love you and will miss you forever.

I can't believe you are not here , but I know I rejoice know you are with our Father in heaven.  I am evergreatful to have been with you the last weeks in the hospital to be at your side. Yea lot of memories of papa for sure! He was just always dancing full of life. Just feeling his presence in the room was just a good energy to have around. Always cracking jokes to make us feel good. Not to bad at golf either gotta give it to him 🏌️‍♂️ ⛳️ lol. “It’s not how you drive it’s how u arrive” just all of his sayings will always stick in my head. He was just a great example of a great husband, father, brother, uncle. I think we all  agree that we will be “ broke busted and disgusted” with out him! Love you PAPA 👴 forever

Grandpa, 

One of my favorite memories of you, aside from getting down on the dance floor, is how you and grandma always sat together at every family gathering, observing and cherishing what you two created and how you never judged any of us. You’ve always  supported each and every one of your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and treated us all fairly.

I remember when papa and I walked together on the first day of school to San Jose Elementary School when I started head-start and I didn’t want to leave him when he dropped me off in the classroom. I was crying and crying for him not to leave because I didn’t know he was going to leave me alone, I thought he was going to go to school with me lol. I remember this so vividly!!

I remember when i got him a ticket from one of the Jockeys at Santa Anita race track and we were able to sit in the Club house, he loved it!! 🎈🙏🏽 I was happy to get a ticket for my Grandpa in the clubhouse too because I knew he loved the race track, but they did tell him he had to put a coat on which he didn’t have and they said we got one for him to borrow, so he went to borrow one and had a great time and day!!! 🐎

Yesterday was my Dad’s first Heavenly Birthday, it was a very very difficult day for me. I love and miss him soo much.Dad I will see u when god chooses for us to be together and we will have our talks again. Love u very much!!
