Beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Evelina “Evie” Chavez passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at home in Beaumont, CA , after a difficult fight with diabetes and cancer. She was 73 years old.
Evelina Mariscal was born on April 28, 1950, in Chicago, IL to her parents Esther and Pedro. She grew up on the south side of Chicago with her brothers Ramiro and Steve, and her sister Ermila. Evie graduated from Jones Commercial High School; it was the first Chicago school to participate in Cooperative Work-Study program, which gave students 2 years of practical experience in business skills. Following school, a 40 plus year career began as a bookkeeper and business administrator for automotive dealerships and service centers; these included Crestview Cadillac, Fred Tuch Buick, River Oaks Honda and Longo Toyota. She retired from work in 2013.
Most important to Evie was her relationships with her family and friends. She is survived by her sons Rolando (Vicky), Marco/Tony (Sandra), Tito (Morgan); her daughter Jennie (Charlie); her brother Steve (Tori); her grandchildren Bella, Lili, Macie, Victoria, Isabella and Calderon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Esther and Pedro, her brother Ramiro, her sister Ermila, her lifelong friend Ermalinda and her partner Rey.
Evie was a kind and caring soul. She shared that kindness with numerous people throughout her life and will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 1401 S. Grand Ave in Glendora, CA, with a Rosary Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Catholic Service will take place on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Interment will be privately held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina Hills.
A reception will follow the service on Friday at the home of Tito and Morgan Chavez, 334 Pamela Kay Ln, Hacienda Heights CA 91746.
Evelina will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
