At the 2012 Toevs Family Reunion - Paso Robles

Uncle Don was a man of many talents.  He could fix clocks, read and translate German, was an avid genealogist WAY before there was Ancestry,com, and incredible photographer. He loved his family and led his life with faith and a sense of purpose. We will miss his quiet ways.

Growing up Christmas Eve was always spent with my family, The Browns, The Collins family and The Toevs family. We alternated homes each Christmas Eve, yet it was a tradition I enjoyed no matter which house we were at. :) Uncle Don did so much work on our German ancestry line along with translating German letters from our Grandparents and others. He definitely had a passion for history, especially our Toevs side. Later in life, I would also start showing an interest in our family history on both sides and Uncle Don was always happy to help me out.  

Looking at this photograph, Uncle Don is on the bottom left holding the dog and I also realized now five of our family members are no longer with us. :( It just reminds you to never take anything for granted and cherish each day you have  and cherish your loved ones. 

Will miss you Uncle Don and thank you for your passion and hard work sharing more of our family history with all of us. 

My mom, Erna says she has wonderful childhood memories with Otto, Don, Beverly and Dorothy. She misses them all. ❤️💔
